“Outside the Box”, a Four Artist Invitational Art Show at the Mills Pond House Gallery, St. James.

Mary Ahern is a featured Artist who experiments across traditional, digital & new mediums to explore & push the boundaries of her Art.

Northport, NY. – May 15, 2014

Today’s artists are stretching the boundaries of their art…experimenting with new modes of display…embracing several media to reinvent their artwork…combining and working across disciplines. Outside the Box will feature four Long Island artists who are stretching the boundaries of their mediums with innovative techniques, giving us new avenues to explore the meaning of art and its relationship to our lives.

Mary Ahern, the Northport Artist, has created an Art Form combining the plants with roots in her garden, the pixels in her digital paintings and her breadth of traditional classical painting techniques. With degrees in both Fine Arts and Horticulture, Ahern combines these fields to produce the large-scale, brilliantly colored paintings, which have become her trademark.

On display will be a succession of her Flower and Garden inspired Art stretching from needlepoint, graphite, watercolor, and oil paintings to her digital mixed-media paintings covering decades of experimenting and creativity.

As a classically trained oil and watercolor painter, Ahern utilizes these very same painting skills when working with her digital paintbrushes. The style of her painting transcends the medium she chooses to create each of her Fine Art Paintings.

Mary Ahern of Northport NY is a widely collected Artist who regularly hosts her own Studio Tours and Garden Tours. She is an accomplished speaker & has frequently served on panels and forums regarding such diverse topics as gardening, art, business, marketing & social networking.
