From the Garden to the Wall (Lecture Title)
Mixed Media Artist & Garden Designer, Mary Ahern Creates Art From the Earth to Pixels to Paint.
Mary Ahern, the Garden Artist, has created an Art Form combining the plants with roots in her garden, the pixels in her digital paintings and her experience with traditional classical painting techniques. With degrees in both Fine Arts and Ornamental Horticulture, Ahern combines these fields to produce the large-scale, brilliantly colored paintings, which have become her trademark.
Using her own gardens surrounding her studio as inspiration, Ahern is intimately involved in the growth habits and bloom times of all the plant material used as models in her paintings. As a horticulturist, she takes great care that her invented painterly gardens are botanically accurate for her very discerning audience.
As a classically trained oil and watercolor painter, Ahern utilizes these very same painting skills when working with her digital paintbrushes. The style of her painting transcends the medium she chooses to create each of her Fine Art Paintings.
Decades of a career as a digital imaging professional enables Ahern the freedom to use her computer skills as just another tool in her arsenal of creative mediums. Whether she is designing a garden or painting with digital or traditional mediums Ahern has a complete grasp of the medium in which she is working in order to fully concentrate on the creation of her own vision.
