“Unstoppable,” is an oil painting that boldly challenges forces that undermine democratic values and silence marginalized communities fighting for equality.

Across Ahern’s over 50-year career in business and the arts, she has fought against the systematic subjugation of women’s voices and independence, refusing to accept the institutional barriers designed to limit women’s power and self-determination.

Unstoppable. A painting by the artist, Mary Ahern
Unstoppable. Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas. 30×40″.

My Art Starts in the Garden

On yesterday`s beautiful summer day, Hubby Dave and I took a bike ride on the Bethpage Bike Path to celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary. We stopped to admire a little garden lovingly and generously planted by someone for all to enjoy. This garden is such a gift and a sanctuary for everyone who happens by.

Totally enjoyed riding my Trek with Hubby Dave. I`ve been a bike rider since I got my first bike at the age of 9ish. I grew up in Brooklyn, riding in very busy traffic. Now I only ride on bike paths since too many people are distracted while driving. But at least I found a way to keep riding my bike and stay safe. I`m not giving up yet!

Take a minute to enjoy nature. Behind the aluminum print of my Siberian Iris painting, a few weeks ago, there was a tan colored golf ball size "thing" stuck to the back of the artwork. Now I`m able to enjoy watching this nest growing each day. If I don`t bother them, they don`t bother me. I give them my garden, and they teach me about nature`s wonders.

Before there was Lauren, there was my mother, Trudy Swart, enjoying an Amazon summer picnic with Jeff Bezos in 2001. My mom always enjoyed a good party!

On my YouTube Channel, I have a playlist called "Take a Minute Videos." I make these videos because, during the day, I often find myself needing a quick moment to refresh myself, to feel, to see, to experience something so that I can return in a more gentle state and move on to the next task. I make these video for those moments. Enjoy!

From inspiration to completion, there are so many steps and layers involved in creating an oil painting. First, the live floral inspiration, then focusing on and isolating the composition, making a drawing on the canvas, and eventually, the multi-layering of paint. Close-ups of details help to emphasize the complexity of the pigment on the surface of this painting.

In May, we continued our bike cruise that started in Bordeaux. The boat docked in Brest, France, and we did a very hilly bike ride of about 30 miles. The weather was rather cooler than it had been further south in France, but still warm enough for bike shorts. During the ride, we saw so many great views, but we don`t want to stop and get off the bikes for each memorable shot. But this one I insisted upon.

This year`s vacation was a bike cruise from Bordeaux to Amsterdam. Bordeaux greeted us with a beautiful sunset, which came at about 10 pm, which was quite a surprise to us and greatly prolonged our enjoyment of the evening. We rode most days and returned to the boat for dinner each evening. If we didn`t ride, we took the tour bus to destinations where we enjoyed walking tours of the cities & towns. It was a great two weeks. Happily, because we were so active, the scale didn`t break when we got home.

Cosmic Peony Power, my 30x30" oil painting, won the Raissa Ageeva Award for Floral Artwork at the 136th Annual Exhibition of the National Association of Women Artists. This painting speaks of energy and movement in this world of chaos. She speaks of strength and courage, which we all need at this time. She will not be subjugated, and she will not be conquered.

🗽 Our billboard went live in Times Square today! Featuring the artwork I created celebrating the incredible women artists represented by Ceres Gallery in Chelsea.
In a world that needs more female voices, we`re amplifying the artists who`ve been shaping culture and breaking barriers. These women aren`t just creating art—they`re creating change.

Art in the Park in Northport Village

Mary Ahern Artist Posted on July 1, 2016 by Mary AhernJune 25, 2025

For years I’ve participated in the Northport Arts Coalition Art in the Park summer time event. This annual event features Music, Dance, Poetry and over 30 Artists and Artisans showing and selling their creative work.

Sponsored by the Northport Arts Coalition this event is one of the featured cultural events of the summer season. Held in the picturesque town of Northport in the Village Green at the foot of Main Street by the harbor.

Although I no longer show my work at Art Festivals, you can call for a private studio tour to see and discuss my work.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me for an appointment!
