This Is What I’ve Been Talking About on Instagram Lately
On Instagram, I write about my life as an artist. Behind the scenes in the studio, preparing for art exhibitions, marketing opportunities, my garden inspirations, artist friends and my artistic journey.
The Art League of Long Island in Dix Hills is advertising my "Meet the Artist" event at The Atelier at Flowerfield in St. James, NY on Saturday, April 27 from 1-3pm. It is very generous of them to promote my work and I thank them for that! Stop by Flowerfield and learn about the messages embedded in my work, the process I use to create them, and the evolution of my style. And if you want to talk about gardening, I`m happy to talk with you about that too!

Cosmic Brugmansia Trio is a 40x30” Gallery Wrapped Oil Painting on Canvas. $4,800. This is currently on view at my solo exhibition at The Atelier at Flowerfield. The painting was inspired by the flowers on the tropical brugmansia plant in my garden that I have been overwintering for years in my plant room. The underpainting is an abstract inspired by images of the galaxy of which we are a part. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant community of life in my garden, my flowers invite universal questions of existence and purpose in their quest for survival, eventual senescence, and rebirth. The merging of the visions of space with the identifiable floral images by using transparent glazing between the micro and macro visions symbolizes the interconnectedness and fragility of all life, underscoring the need for open discourse to ensure universal survival.

So many of my friends came out to help me celebrate the opening of my solo show at The Atelier at Flowerfields the other evening. l-r. Monica Ray, Susan Rostan, Me, Roz Dimon and a new friend, Han Qin. All of us are artists working in different mediums and different styles. We all share the courage to create, which is what drives us and continues to empower us. Also, we are all members of the National Association of Women Artists except Han who will be applying during our Fall membership drive. The show will be at 2 Flowerfield, St. James NY, until May 30, 2024. If you missed the opening reception, there will be a daytime Meet the Artist on Saturday, April 27 from 1-3pm. Come and hear me speak about my work and why it`s an important message for these times in which we live.

Enjoying my friends at the opening reception of my solo art show at The Atelier at Flowerfield. Susan Rostan and Roz Dimon came out to help me celebrate. We are all artists working in entirely different styles and mediums yet we all understand the drive, and courage it takes to continue to create. Creating is not an option, a hobby, a time to relax from a hard day. It is the hardest work we have done, day after day, and year after year, and we will continue to do so until we are dust. Today is the Opening Reception for my solo show at The Atelier at Flowerfield, 2 Flowerfield, St. James NY from 5:30-7:30. This painting is in the show. She`s named "Meditative Journey - Immortality Iris, 20x24" Acrylic & Oil on 24x24" gallery-wrapped canvas. $2,500. The perfect season is Spring because it is so full of optimism for me! The gardens surrounding my studio are coming alive each day with more and more flowers in bloom. All winter these flowers have been inspiring the new paintings I’ve been creating. I’ll be at the reception this evening to talk with people about why I do the art I do, the way I do it, and the garden that inspires my work. Hope you can stop by for a chat!
