I’ve been doing tutorials on my Hohem gimbal. There are so many controls on it that it takes a bit of time to learn them all. Each button has multiple actions depending on how many times you press it. The gimbal is used to keep my iPhone steady when I’m taking videos, and it really works well. It has an extension that lets me do high and low shots and a built-in stand for when I want to video myself while I’m painting. It can even track me if I move. The controller can be removed from the handle and used remotely. There’s a small lighting feature, but I don’t know how useful it will be for what I’m doing. There are so many variations of the Hohem and other gimbals on the marketplace. Mine is an iSteady V3 and it does what I want it to do.
I began this daily journal in February, 2026 as I prepared for three exhibitions. My solo exhibition, “Portraits From My Garden” at Locust Grove in Poughkeepsie, NY, on view from June 5 – September 12, 2026, and my work that was on view in the June, 2026 group show, “Raising Women’s Voices” in Chelsea, NYC.
My next solo exhibition titled “Centering in the Midst of Chaos” will be at the Ceres Gallery in Chelsea, New York City, November 3 – 28, 2026.
It will feature digital artwork, oil paintings, and a multimedia installation.
