The weather is changing here on Long Island. The nighttime temperatures will be dipping into the 50s so it’s time to start bringing in some of my plants from their summer vacation outside in the garden and on the deck. In my basement, there is an unheated room that was probably a root cellar when the house was originally built. When I bought the property in 1989, I designed the room to be my darkroom. Once I went all digital, I donated my entire assortment of darkroom equipment to Farmingdale State, where I had studied for a degree in Horticulture. Since the sink and counters were there, it was easy to convert it into a plant room with just some LED lighting fixtures. I have all the lighting on timers and I mimic the daylight hours throughout the changes from fall, to winter and then spring. Having my garden indoors helps to keep my spirits up during the short days and long dark and cold nights of winter.
I began this daily journal in February, 2026 as I prepared for solo and group shows in 2026 and 2027.
Check my News & Exhibitions page for additional information.
My next solo exhibition titled “Centering in the Midst of Chaos” will be at the Ceres Gallery in Chelsea, New York City, November 3 – 28, 2026.
It will feature digital artwork, oil paintings, and a multimedia installation.
