Today is the first day the Apple was making their brand new iPhone 18 available to the public. So what did I do today? I went to the Apple store in the Mall near me and picked up my pre-ordered new toy. So yes, this proves it. I’m a well-known Toy Pig and an early adopter. The lines out the store were amazing but we walked right in since we had ordered it there the day before. We backed my phone up at home so it took about an hour to transfer all the content from my trade-in iPhone 13, and a few more hours at home for me to play with it. It’s a little bit heavier than the 13 and a little bit thicker but I’m sure I’ll adjust to that in a few days. The camera quality is amazing! Outside of the Apple store, I went to the Zagg popup and had them put on the screen protectors for all the photo lenses and main screen plus the protective case. My Sony RX100 sits by my desk gathering dust at this point. I don’t have a compelling reason to use anything except the iPhone I carry in my pocket every place I go and can capture anything I need instantly. Long ago I sold all my Nikons and lenses that used to hang around my neck like heavy weights. Now I just wip the phone out of my back pocket, push the side button and the amazing camera is ready for the shoot. Times sure have changed and lots of it for the better!
I began this daily journal in February, 2026 as I prepared for solo and group shows in 2026 and 2027.
Check my News & Exhibitions page for additional information.
My next solo exhibition titled “Centering in the Midst of Chaos” will be at the Ceres Gallery in Chelsea, New York City, November 3 – 28, 2026.
It will feature digital artwork, oil paintings, and a multimedia installation.
