Weekly Wrap-Up: Studio Glimpses
This week A Space for Centering came together. In my garden, aluminum prints of my paintings stand beside live plantings, the real and the made side by side, a bloom’s short life next to an image that lasts. The installation recreates a small version of the garden I’ve designed and tended for over 35 years.
The heart of it is the video. I edited 15-second clips of flowers from my garden that dissolve one into the next, the camera nearly still so the eye can settle and observe. Bees, insects, wind, and shifting sunlight do the moving. I added birdsong too, because I hear the birds every time I step outside.
To hide the cords under the table, I shopped online with my feet up. Fifty years ago in art school, browsing hardware stores for assemblage materials, I was eyed with suspicion just for being a woman wandering the aisles. That was then. I also visited one of the wholesale nurseries where I’ve held accounts for 26 years as a landscape designer, a feast of color, and came home with sage, rosemary and thyme. No parsley though. On Friday the curtains arrived and now hang from clamps, no drilling, giving a smooth finish below the table. All that’s left is adding the plants.
I closed the week recording audio statements for each painting. Small 4×4″ labels with QR codes will sit beside every piece, linking to the recordings on my website and carrying the show beyond the gallery walls.

Only three more weeks until I hang this show, which opens on Election Day, November 3, 2026!
I began this daily journal in February, 2026 as I prepared for multiple solo and group exhibitions in 2026 & 2027.
My next solo exhibition titled “Centering in the Midst of Chaos” will be at the Ceres Gallery in Chelsea, New York City, November 3 – 28, 2026.
