This Week in the Studio – September 28-October 4, 2026

Week in Review: September 28 to October 4
This week was all about the installation. A Space for Centering is the part of my exhibition where I’m bringing my garden indoors, and piece by piece it’s coming together in the booth I’ve built in my studio.
The week started with a frustrating detour. I spent hours trying to get the audio on my Vimeo videos to play in Chrome on my website. It never did. I asked Vimeo for a refund, and they sent it within minutes. Lesson learned, and time to move on. The rest of the week was much kinder. I gathered the bird songs I recorded on my deck this summer with the Merlin Bird ID app: the House Wren who raised her chicks right off my deck, the Goldfinch, the Catbird, the Cardinal, the very loud Blue Jays, and more. Their voices will be the soundtrack for the video playing in the installation. My custom printed curtains came back from the seamstress. The left panel holds the centers of my digital paintings and the right holds the centers of my oil paintings. I was nervous clipping them onto the frame, but they came out almost exactly as I envisioned.
I went plant shopping and came home with a hibiscus who will appear in the video before she overwinters in my plant room. I also wrote about the Techspressionism Co-Working group. About fifteen or so of us meet every week, and they are the most generous artists I’ve ever worked with. And a new 22″ white monitor arrived and is set up in the booth. The proportions finally feel right from the previous 16″ display. Centering in the Midst of Chaos opens at Ceres Gallery on Election Day, November 3. One month to go.

I began this daily journal in February, 2026 as I prepared for multiple solo and group exhibitions in 2026 & 2027.
My next solo exhibition titled “Centering in the Midst of Chaos” will be at the Ceres Gallery in Chelsea, New York City, November 3 – 28, 2026.
