Today I took the LIRR into the city (that’s what we call Manhattan in our neck of the woods) to help hang the next group show at the Ceres Gallery in Chelsea NYC. There are two large rooms with many artworks in very different sizes and styles that needed to be hung in such a way to complement each other. Four of us worked for many hours hanging the work and touching up the walls. After the art was all placed and hung, the lighting had to be carefully redirected to show each piece in the best possible light. Pun intended. For me, one of the treats to the hard work in the gallery is walking back to Penn Station to catch my train home, along the Highline, an elevated park built on a former transportation railway featuring gardens, art, and backed up with stunning views of the NYC Hudson Yards neighborhood. I always gather ideas for potential paintings, native plant selections, and installation projects for exhibitions or for garden design. It was a day of camaraderie with other artists and creative inspirations. I consider that a day well spent

I began this daily journal in February, 2026 as I prepared for three exhibitions. My solo exhibition, “Portraits From My Garden” at Locust Grove in Poughkeepsie, NY, on view from June 5 – September 15, 2026, and my work in the June, 2026 group show, “Raising Women’s Voices” in Chelsea, NYC.

My next solo exhibition titled “Centering in the Midst of Chaos” will be at the Ceres Gallery in Chelsea, New York City, November 3 – 28, 2026.
