Weekly Wrap-Up: Studio Glimpses: Week in Review
July 13–17, 2026
The studio for me is wherever I create, whether standing at my easel, sitting at my desktop, or bending in my garden. My studio took several forms this week — the easel, the desk, my photo archives, and the garden, where I’m always out shooting new reference photos to add to the collection I draw my inspiration from for my artwork. Having just signed the “Cosmic Magnolia” painting, I turned my attention to the purple paph orchid painting, deliberately choosing a lighter and less dense color palette than before. One day was spent reworking the ABOUT pages on my website and Substack column, which had drifted out of sync with the work I’m actually making now. I finally joined a Techspressionism Zoom call after years of curiosity. This is a group of artists from around the world who work in many forms of digital art, something I began doing in the 1980s. I cleared some studio congestion by moving another batch of canvases to my rented climate-controlled storage unit. Then closed the week, starting to source vendors for sheer fabric printing, the material for the meditation space I’m building as part of my solo exhibition at the Ceres Gallery in November, titled “Centering in the Midst of Chaos”. Fabric samples should arrive by next week.

I began this daily journal in February, 2026 as I prepared for three exhibitions. My solo exhibition, “Portraits From My Garden” at Locust Grove in Poughkeepsie, NY, from June 5 – September 15, 2026, and my work for the group show, “Raising Women’s Voices” in Chelsea, NYC which was on view until July 18, 2026.

My next solo exhibition titled “Centering in the Midst of Chaos” will be at the Ceres Gallery in Chelsea, New York City, November 3 – 28, 2026.
