Once I am done working on a painting and it’s signed, I then wire it for hanging. I also document the piece with the date of completion, since that’s a number that will never be reused for another work. For the placement of the wiring, I measure 1/3 of the piece’s height down and mark the stretcher. I drill a small hole in the wood and then change the tip of the drill and screw in the D-hooks. From a big reel of covered wire, I thread it through the D-hooks & pull it tightly to the opposing ends of the stretchers. I also write the Index #, the title of the work, medium, and put © and my name and signature along the bottom stretcher. I do this for all my paintings. This info, along with photos, is added to my Artwork Archive account in the cloud and also to the Excel spreadsheet I maintain locally. When you’ve been creating work for decades, you need to stay organized for many reasons.

I began this daily journal in February, 2026 as I prepared for my solo exhibition, “Portraits From My Garden” at Locust Grove in Poughkeepsie, NY, from June 5 – September 15, 2026, my work for the group show, “Hearing Women’s Voices” at the Ceres Gallery in from June 23. to July 18, 2026, and my upcoming November 2026, solo exhibition titled, “Centering in the Midst of Chaos” in Chelsea, New York City
